Partners
Bokusashi is part of a community of organizations that provide facility and property software solutions. Connections with these partner organizations provide a wide array of resources.
Bokusashi
Bokusashi was founded by Sean Benson in 2020 to develop a resource pool of international consultants, required to have over 10 years experience in workplace, real property, and facility management technology. Having spent a decade managing the certification of businesses and their employees, it became apparent that many businesses rely heavily on just a handful of core employees for knowledge transfer. The goal of Bokusashi is to support that knowledge transfer.
Sean Benson
Director
I started Bokusashi because I am excited about the future of real property technology and its potential. I ran the education, training, and certification program at Archibus (now SpaceIQ) for 13 years. In that time, I traveled and built relationships with a diverse partner channel in over 25 countries, working with clients, speaking at conferences or in classrooms, and presenting to prospective clients. Prior to that, I implemented beverage distribution software in the US and taught English in Japan. Outside the office, I like a variety of athletic activities, but it was martial arts that had the biggest impact on my professional life. I started studying Taekwon-Do at 10, earned a 4th degree black belt, and studied both Shotokan karate and kendo while in Japan. The martial arts taught confidence, focus, discipline, extroversion, and compassion - tools that help me bridge the gap between technology and people each day.
Ethos
The name Bokusashi combines the name of Japan's most famous ronin, Miyamoto Musashi, with the name of one of his preferred tools, a wooden training sword known as a bokuto or bokken. After years of service as a samurai, Musashi wandered Japan opening schools to teach sword fighting and writing. His writing on leadership and strategy in battle are cited to this day in business texts. At Bokusashi, we serve as present-day ronin, wielding our services and experience to help clients develop and optimize their systems. In his Book of Five Rings, Musashi outlined 9 key principles to which we adhere to today:
- Do not think dishonestly
- The Way is in training
- Become acquainted with every art
- Know the Ways of all professions
- Distinguish between gain and loss in worldly matters
- Develop an intuitive judgement and understanding for everything
- Perceive those things which cannot be seen
- Pay attention even to trifles
- Do nothing which is of no use
Values
We believe society produces its best results by embracing:
- Collaboration - a willingness to work in a team
- Learning - an eagerness to expand knowledge
- Integrity - a dedication to honesty and accountability
- Service - a desire to help others
- Health - an aspiration to mental, physical, community, and environmental balance
Vision
Effective stewardship of the built environment through the use of technology reduces the strain that infrastructure places on our planet. We believe helping clients effectively manage their physical assets and provide safe and healthy workplaces for employees leads to a healthier lifestyle and planet.
